Observations:

July 2013- Lalonde has signed to play for the Berlin Polar Bears of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Thus ends his time with the Blackhawks and for now his NHL career is on hold. Rex Doty

June 2013- Lalonde continues to make strides in his overall game, most notably on the defensive side. The 2012-13 season seen him bounce-back offensively from 2011-12’s disappointing 13 point effort with 23 points in 59 games. He may see a few games here or there for the Blackhawks in the coming season depending on injury circumstances, but he’s still a season or two away from seeing prolonged time in Chicago. Rex Doty

March 2012 – Lalonde can skate fairly well coming from the back end, and likes to join the rush too. He has some good hockey sense, although sometimes his decision making with and without the puck is a killer. He played four seasons in the OHL for Belleville Bulls and currently in his second stint with Rockford. Lalonde will need to improve his defensive game and plus/minus stats before getting is opportunity in Chicago. Russ Bitely

Fantasy Outlook: D-

Lalonde has signed to play in the DEL for at least the 2013-14 season.

Fantasy Prospects Report Notes (Any FPR’s released in the last 18 months will not be listed here):

2009 Fantasy Prospects Report:

Scouting Report

Sometimes, it’s what skills a player doesn’t have that makes them desirable. Of course, Shawn Lalonde’s skating is outstanding; his mobility in every direction is tops among ’08 eligible defenders. While not as fast as Doughty or Ness, the Porcupine, Ontario native is a fantastic pivoter, capable of changing direction at a moment’s notice. Lalonde has utilized his skating skills so far in a defensive role; a team can’t score if they don’t have the puck, and Lalonde never allows them to have it. However, with confidence and muscle, the raw blueliner could be a dominant player offensively. And confidence and muscle are the two things most players gain with experience. With that being Lalonde’s only barrier to pro success, most teams – your keeper team included – should like him.
