July 2017- Karlsson spent most of the 2016-17 season loaned out to the Allsvenskan (Swedish second league) team IK Oskarshamn. His numbers weren't great there where he put up six goals and 10 points in 48 games, along with six scoreless games with Frolunda in the SHL. Despite having an excellent development camp with the Coyotes last summer, he didn't participate this summer and seems to show no interest in coming overseas to play in North America anytime soon. Karlsson is signed to play 2017-18 with Leksands IF in the Allsvenskan. Keith Duggan

July 2016- Anton Karlsson played a little all over the map in 2015-16. He appeared in 19 SHL games with Frolunda, getting into just nine games where he played more than five minutes, finishing with just two assists. After the World Juniors, where Karlsson also played in a depth role managing just one point, he was loaned out to two separate Allsvenskan squads: Leksands and Karlskroga, though he spent just three games with the latter. Frolunda has proven to be a strong team, so it's not surprising Karlsson's struggled with cracking the lineup. He plays a NHL ready physical game and showed well at the Coyotes development camp but offensively fantasy wise he won't offer much. With one year left on his contract. look for Karlsson to play one more season with Frolunda before coming overseas.  Keith Duggan

December 2015- Anton Karlsson has made Team Sweden for the World Junior Championship, his third straight now. Karlsson has struggled offensively in the SHL this season, putting up two assists in 19 games for Frolunda. He'll provide leadership and energy for what should be a strong Team Sweden. May 2015- It wasn't a banner 2014-15 season for Anton Karlsson. After struggling with Skelleftea, being released by the team, then resurfacing with Frolunda, he only posted two assists in 15 SHL games. He also dissapointed with Sweden at the WJC, only again posting two assists in seven games. Karlsson's future is starting to look at best a bottom-six forward. On top of that he signed a two-year extention with Frolunda and questions remain if Karlsson has any interest in even coming to North America. Keith Duggan

December 2014- For a second year in a row, Anton Karlsson has made Team Sweden for the World Junior Championship. It's been a rough season so far for Karlsson, as he struggled with Skelleftea and his contract was recently terminated. He has since returned to Frolunda, where he played last season. The World Junior's should be a good place for Karlsson to prove he's still a excellent prospect for the Coyotes. Keith Duggan

October 2014- After being a first round pick of the Erie Otters in the CHL import draft this past summer, the hope was that Karlsson would make the trek overseas to play in North America for the 2014-15 season. Instead he decided to stay in Sweden and signed a two-year contract with Skelleftea AIK, where he will develop his game with the defending champs. June 2014- The Arizona Coyotes selected Anton Karlsson with their third round selection, 87th overall in the 2014 NHL entry draft. Keith Duggan

February 2014 – The young Swede served as a menacing forward at the World Junior tournament displaying an irritating physical presence and gritty forecheck. Anton Karlsson isn’t limited to that role though as he’s shown a crafty set of puck skills and offensive flair playing for Frolunda’s junior squad. With good size, strong skating and an ability to adjust roles, Anton Karlsson’s pro upside is very appealing. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Karlsson projects as a bottom six/energy forward at the NHL level.
