November 2013- With the Avalanche struggling defensively, Tyson Barrie has been recalled from Lake Erie. Barrie is a promising defensemen but has failed to get it going so far with the Avalanche. He is solid enough and definitely adds an offensive element to the back end. Andrew Ward

November 2013 – Barrie hasn’t had the year he wanted. He’s been sent down again, only to be replaced by Matt Hunwick. Barrie has not seen much time this season and when he has, he’s been a bit of a turnover machine. Barrie will get another chance at some point this season but how many chances he gets moving forward is up in the air. He’s a promising offensive defensemen that hasn’t quite seen his potential yet. Andrew Ward

October 2013- Barrie has been a scratch since Ryan Wilson came off IR, he hasn’t been playing up to expectations and have given up the puck a lot in his own zone. He will bounce back, but with the current line ups success and a lot of healthy defense-men, Barrie looks to be scratched for at least a few more games.

June 2013 – Tyson Barrie continues to struggle defensively, although he did show glimmers of offense his defensive play was ugly at times. He finished the season with 13 points in 32 games and overall was a minus-11. Not the best numbers for Colorado’s third rounder in the 2009 Entry Draft. Barrie did seem to get comfortable over the course of play and saw heavy minutes clsoing out the year. This coming season will determine Barrie’s place on a team that has made some big changes during the summer, with this being a contract year for him, Barrie has a lot to prove. Andrew Ward

December, 2012 – Barrie is having an excellent season for Lake Erie, with 22 points through 31 games. He is a power-play quarterback who is improving steadily in his own zone. Barrie is ready for the NHL. Rich Dillon

March 2012 – Barrie exceled over four solid years in the WHL with the Kelowna Rockets where he took home the 2010 Defenseman of the Year Award. He is a gifted skater who likes to get involved offensively with his playmaking ability and vision. He will need to show more physicality in the pros and has already seen time in Colorado in just his first year out of junior.

Fantasy Outlook: B+

Barrie has the great hands and offensive ability though will need to play big in stature for the NHL.
