Vadim Zherenko

July 2025  – The St. Louis Blues re-signed Zherenko to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 in the NHL and $125,000 in the AHL. The 2019 seventh-round pick (208th overall) has spent the last three seasons in the American Hockey League with the Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, and has not made his NHL debut. With Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer in the NHL under contract, Zherenko will continue to develop in the AHL with the Thunderbirds for the 2025-26 season. A change of scenery could be in the cards to further his career in 2026-27. You can avoid rostering Zherenko in fantasy, as he has no path to fantasy relevance. Mark Henry

November 2023 – With Hofer now in the NHL, Zherenko has assumed a larger role in the AHL, and his performance has been exceptional. In six games, he boasts a 0.921 save percentage and a 2.52 goals against average. Despite the small sample size, two key factors instill hope that these impressive stats can be sustained throughout the entire season. First, Zherenko has displayed consistency by not allowing more than three goals in any single game. Second, he has achieved these statistics while facing the fifth-highest number of shots in the league, with a total of 211. May 2023 – After being one of the best young goalies in Russia for five years, he had a one-season stint in Finland that presented his difficulties. Zherenko made the jump last season to North America, playing for the Blues’ AHL club. Unfortunately for him, he was stuck behind one of the best goalies in the AHL, Joel Hofer. Zherenko was still able to play 25 games for the team, posting an impressive 913 svS%. Zherenko had the opportunity of being called up by St. Louis twice, but still has not made his debut.
