Observations:

October 2017 – Williams was not made a qualifying offer from the Islanders and became a free agent. It is unlikey he ever sees an NHL game and should not be owned in even the deepest of leagues. Peter Harling

June 2016 – Stephon Williams’ first professional season was not without its challenges. Williams finished the year with a .899 save percentage. He was not able to wrestle the starting job away from Christopher Gibson, although Williams did earn two of the starts (both losses) for the Sound Tigers in the playoffs. It is not uncommon for NCAA goalies to struggle to adapt to the pro game – fellow college standouts Matt O’Connor and Zane McIntyre suffered similar fates this past season. However, if Williams can’t right the ship in 2016-17, he may not receive a qualifying offer from the Islanders at season’s end. Brent Craswell

Nov 2015 – Williams has had a rather inconsistent start to his professional career but that should be expected. He has been playing as the backup to Christopher Gibson for a majority of the season seeing one of every three weekend games instead of two, minus one weekend where he played all three games as Gibson was injured. He has five wins in seven games, has been pulled in one game and a shutout in the last game played. He will need to take over the starting role in the AHL before having a hope of seeing NHL time, and the skill is there for him to do so eventually. Pat Quinn

June 2015 – Williams recently wrapped up his best season in the NCAA for Minnesota State University in his final year in college with a 0.925 save percentage. His 2012-13 save percentage was 0.924, and 2013-14 was mired in inconsistency and losing his starting job that he thankfully bounced back from. He played in five games for the Bridgepoint Sound Tigers posting three wins, one loss, and a 0.936 save percentage. It is hard to know really what Williams is right now. Is he the goalies who posted greater than 0.920 save percentage in a full season, or is he the goalie that lost his starting job and one that was twice passed over in the draft. Standing at 6-2 he has good size for a goalie and good athleticism, so the potential is there. Pat Quinn

Fantasy Outlook: D

Has the size and skills to be a starter, but currently future projections are murky with inconsistent seasons.
