A big, smooth-skating defenseman who has a heavy shot from the point. He has a long developmental runway in the NCAA to hopefully get in a few NHL games someday
Observations
June 2025 – Keenan played a regular role as a freshman at UMass in 2024, playing all 40 games and registering four goals and seven assists. He was not afraid to use his bomb of a shot, tallying nearly two shots per game, which is above average for a defenseman in the NCAA. The NHL is skewing bigger on defense, and Keenan is no exception at 6-4. While his plus skating and defensive potential will keep him in consideration for an NHL opportunity someday, he will have to further develop at UMass to leapfrog some of the other talented defensemen in the Detroit Red Wings pipeline.
