What is a second-round pick worth via trade? Why not keep the pick and draft? I was in conversation on Twitter this week over Calgary's acquisition of Curtis Lazar last season. At the time, it was strange to pick up another asset that they would have to protect in the expansion draft, particularly because Lazar had one [...]
The 2018 Winter Olympics are coming up fast, and like it, hate it or even if you are indifferent to the fact that NHL players will not be participating in the event this year, it will lend an opportunity to do a little fantasy hockey prospecting. With NHL player and AHL players under NHL contract [...]
Thursday ramblings are once again upon us and holy am I sick. I will try to get through this but it may be a short one. Apologies in advance. I’ll discuss a few over agers and highlight the Svechnikov Sokolov chemistry. And an intro will be possibly my favorite Primus song (well [...]
*** With the All-Star break upon us and the second half of the season ahead, we enter the dog days of the season where many players off to promising starts begin to slow down. What I wonder is: Does a rookie's previous league (CHL, NCAA, AHL) affect their season first-half/second-half splits? My hypothesis going into [...]

This weeks Ramblings will have a heavy focus on the draft as NHL Central Scouting released their Midseason rankings and here at DobberProspects we released our Fantasy Rankings. First let’s look at our Fantasy Rankings. This is an annual list I put together with contributions from some senior writers and in addition I get some [...]
Mathew Barzal, Ty Smith and Oliver Wahlstrom As we finally start getting used to writing 2018, players are also adapting back to life after the World Junior Championships. Not only are the returnees adjusting, but those players who were left behind to fill in on the top roles are now back in their usual [...]
*** Hello Friday readers! Usually this spot belongs to fellow editor Cam Robinson, but for life reasons we're swapping this week - you can catch his Ramblings on Sunday. *** One of the reasons Dobber is legendary for fantasy coverage is the annual Mid-Season guide (click for more info). I've been lucky enough to [...]
Welcome back to the Thursday ramblings. This week is around the mid-point of the season so I decided to go back over my top ranked prospects from the Prospect Report, some top ranked prospects from The Athletic, Dallas underutilizing their young depth, and my top 10 2018 prospects right meow. But first this song [...]
