Kyle Palmieri, C/W

Shoots: R

Height: 5-10

Weight: 190

Born: 1991-02-01

Hometown: Montvale, NJ

Drafted: 2009 by Anaheim, 26th overall

Observations:

February, 2012 – Is quickly outgrowing the AHL, despite being barely 21 years-old. The Ducks have been wise not to rush him, letting him build confidence in the minors while giving him tastes of the NHL along the way. He should be in Anaheim full-time in 2012-13. Will probably play wing for the Ducks, but can play center if needed.

Fantasy Outlook: B+

Very good upside. Top six forward with first line potential, and will see significant power-play time once he’s a regular.

Fantasy Prospects Report Notes (Any FPR’s released in the last 18 months will not be listed here):

2009 Fantasy Prospects Report:

Scouting Report: Speed and shiftiness are necessary attributes for a smaller player to succeed in the NHL, but what about plain old grit? Despite his size, Kyle Palmieri is known both internationally and at home as a vicious player in the corners. Teemu Hartikainen, a 6’3 Edmonton pick, found that out the hard way at a summer ‘friendly’ match between Finland and USA. Palmieri spent the afternoon following the normally imposing power forward around the ice, walloping him with big hits two or three times. In addition to his feistiness, the New Jersey native possesses both elite vision and a flair for leading by example at crunch time.

Notable Numbers: At the 2008 U18 Five Nations tournament, Palmieri scored a hat trick in the championship game. In 2009 at the same tournament he bagged the GWG twice to help Team USA to a perfect 4-0 record in the round robin.

Potential: Second-line winger, 20-35-55, 100 PIM

Years Away: 3
