July 2016 – Shane Prince signed a two year, one-way deal on July 1, 2016. Prince was an efficient offensive weapon in 2015-16, registering 1.53 points and 7.55 shots on goal per 60 minutes of ice time – good for sixth and fifth on the team, respectively. Unfortunately for Prince (and his fantasy owners), the Islanders also signed Andrew Ladd and Jason Chimera to multi-year deals on July 1. As things stand now, Prince is fourth on the depth chart at left wing, which will limit his fantasy value for the foreseeable future. However, if there are ever injuries on New York’s left side, Prince is very capable of making the most of an opportunity on a scoring line. Brent Craswell

March 2016 – Prince and a 2016 7th round pick were traded to the New York Islanders at the trade deadline for a 2016 3rd round pick. Prince debuted with the Islanders on the top line with John Tavares and Ryan Strome on March 1st. Mid-way through the game he was playing with Strome and Nikolay Kulemin. Prince played 13:07 of ice time and only had 36 seconds of PP time. Prince was unable to produce any offense with that top line, getting moved off of Tavares' wing is not a sign you want in your first game with a new team. Prince will look to create more offense and move back up to that prime winger position. Let's hope Jack Capuano gives him another chance. Paul Zwambag
