Observations:

November 2015 – Tierney has seen modest production in his second NHL season, scoring two goals and totalling six points through 21 games. He has spent most of his minutes on the third and fourth lines while receiving little to no power play time. There was hope that the young pivot would get an opportunity to fill in for the injured Logan Couture but that gap has been filled by Tomas Hertl. Tierney has always projected to be a strong two-way presence, but his top end fantasy value may be limited going forward. –Cam Robinson

August 2015 – The recently turned 21-year-old had an above-average season splitting time between the big club and Worcester of the AHL. Tierney put up a point per game in 29 AHL contests and a respectable 21 points in 43 games for San Jose. Considered to be a future bottom six centre, he has shown the offensive acumen to question that projection. Look for him to anchor the third line this season with some time on the second powerplay unit.  Cam Robinson

October 2014 – Tierney had a strong preseason and was rewarded with a roster spot with the Sharks.  There have been some injuries that made room, but if he continues to play a strong game centering one of the bottom lines, he may very well force the question when James Sheppard returns as they Sharks management is not shying away from giving the spots to their youngsters.  Tim Graveline

June 2014- Tierney had a great season for the London Knights.  He received the honor of being the team captain in January.  He led his team with a solid 40 goals and 49 assist.  Tierney had an outstanding playoff showing posting six goals and 17 points in only nine games before his London Knights were eliminated. He is a great all round player who plays hard on both ends of the ice.  He will likely join the Worcester Sharks in the 2014/15 season and with his promising development, don’t be surprised to see this two-way forward get the occasional call-up if injuries strike.  Tim Graveline

April 2013- Tierney finished the 2012-13 regular season posting 18G-39A-57PTS and a plus-6 rating playing in all 68 games for the London Knights and posted 1G-5A-6PTS and a plus-5 rating while helping sweep the Saginaw Spirit in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Travis Watson

April 2013 – The San Jose Sharks signed Tierney to a three year entry-level contract. He will most likely stay another year in the OHL as an overage player or begin his professional career in Worcester. Tim Graveline

January, 2013 – Chris is a very dependable two-way player able to play in all three zones. He is willing to put the team first by accepting any role given to him and a real glue guy for the London Knights. Tierney is starting to put together above average numbers despite generally being given third line minutes and assignments. Tierney truly is starting to live up to his first-round pedigree in the OHL draft and worthy of the second-round selection to the Sharks in 2012. Travis Watson

Fantasy Outlook: B

Tierney has all the tools to succeed just needs the time and right opportunity to develop into his ability. Future probably lies as a third-line center with second-line scoring upside.
