Observations:

October 2015- Jordan Martinook had a very strong training camp, making the Coyotes opening night roster. "You could argue he was our best forward in training camp," said Arizona head coach Dave Tippett. "He was a factor in every game he played." While awesome to see a player like Martinook come out of nowhere to push himself onto the Coyotes roster, he will most likely fill a bottom-six forward role and won't produce much offensively. August 2015- Jordan Martinook has signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Coyotes. After two unspectaclar seasons in the AHL, Martinook broke out with a strong third campaign. The 22-year old put up 15 goals and 43 points in 62 games with Portland. He was rewarded with two recalls to the Coyotes, appearing in eight games, finishing with one assist. Marinook's game is improving but he still looks to be more of a hard working, bottom-six player in the NHL. Keith Duggan

February 2015- On his second recall to the Coyotes, Jordan Martinook recorded his first NHL point with an assist against the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 16th. He's having a strong season in the AHL, setting career-highs in goals and assists in only 44 games. Keith Duggan

December 2014- Jordan Martinook has been recalled to the Coyotes and is expected to make his NHL debut against the Boston Bruins on December 6th. Don't expect much offense as he's pegged to play a bottom six role with the big club. Keith Duggan

July 2014- Martinook was voted by Portland Pirate fans as the team's "Unsung Hero" this past season. His numbers were an improvement on his rookie year, 14 goals and 16 assists in 67 games, not terrible but for him to take the next step he's going to need to find the net more often. Entering the third and last year of his entry-level contract, this is a make or break season for Martinook who's starting to look more like a hard working, checking line forward than the scorer the Coyotes were hoping to get when they drafted him in 2012. Keith Duggan

June 2013 – After scoring only 12 points in 32 games due to a mixture of the usual transition to playing against men, an influx of talent thanks to the lockout and an upper body injury, he scored at a .5 ppg pace for the rest of the year. That is quite respectable for a rookie AHL season and he earned himself some time on the powerplay. Watch for him to improve on his second half next year. – Austin Wallace

February, 2013 – Jordan Martinook is a versatile player that can line up in all three forward positions. Last season Martinook skated in all 72 games for a Vancouver Giants team that finished second in the BC division of the WHL. He finished second on his team in goals with 40, though his scoring totals may be bloated thanks to skating on the same line as Montreal prospect Brendan Gallagher. Martinook is able to score off the rush and through his solid offensive positioning. He has a pro shot and good skating ability. He is also not afraid to drop the gloves and has a sand-paper type game. There was some speculation that the Coyotes might return him to the Giants this year as an over-ager for some extra seasoning as he only spent two total years in the WHL, but they decided to bring him up to their AHL affiliate. This season he has struggled adjusting to life in the AHL, and has missed time due to an upper-body injury, scoring only a goal and an assist so far. He will need to refine his skating and work on his defensive play in the AHL.

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Martinook has offensive pedigree but is looking more like a long shot to make the NHL and if he does it will most likely be a bottom six character forward.
