Drafted: Undrafted – Signed as free agent

October 2014 – Back in July of this year, Tampa Bay signed Samson to a one year, two-way contract to provide depth for their AHL affiliate in Syracuse. At 27-years-old, he's failed to impress enough to play any meaningful NHL games. Randall Buschmann

October 2012 – After a 16 game audition with the Canes, Samson was resigned for another season. He is currently fighting a deep battle within the Charlotte Checkers to prove his value against Carolina’s other fringe prospects. Has started with a trio of points in five games, but he is currently below Zach Boychuck, Zac Dalpe, Drayson Bowman and Victor Rask and is only on par with Chris Terry on the Carolina depth chart. This battle is for only a pair of spots on the Canes lower lines. Jason Banks

February 2012 – Samson played four in the QMJHL producing solid, but not exceptional numbers. He has done the same thing in his three plus years in the AHL as well as see some time with the parent club in last two seasons. A power forward who went undrafted but has good scoring touch and strength in the AHL. Will need to show that consistent ability to stick in the NHL.

Fantasy Outlook: D-

Until proven otherwise, Samson is a spare NHL forward at best, and most likely a career minor leaguer.
