Observations:

July 2014 – Monahan was all he could be and more in his rookie season. He potted 22 goals (34 points) in 75 games at 19 years old in the NHL. His plus/minus left some to be desired (minus-20) but that wasn’t helped by the Flames’ dismal .897 team save percentage which should improve under Hiller. He should battle Backlund for the top center spot in the short term. Monahan is the Flames prospect you want above all… once Bennett is off the table. Brad Wilson

May 2014 – Monahan will suit up for Canada at the World Championships. Brad Wilson

July 2013 – Sean Monahan has just signed a two way entry level contract with the Calgary Flames. It is an incentive laden deal with a base salary of $832,500 if he makes the Flames vs. $70,000 if he is assigned to the AHL. Monahan can also increase his annual salary to $1,770,000 with performance bonuses throughout his three year deal. Taken sixth overall, Monahan has an excellent opportunity to make his mark on a team with a desperate need for size and production at centre ice. Sheldon Curtis{source}

October 2012 – Sean Monahan was named to the 2012 Subway Super Series Team OHL Roster slated to compete in a six-game series versus the Russian National Junior Team in November. Monahan is one of three draft eligbile skaters that will suit up for Team OHL.  Brendan Ross

October, 2012 – Sean Monahan is the top-ranked OHL forward for the upcoming 2013 NHL Entry Draft and it is for good reason as he brings the complete package of size, skill and hockey intelligence that teams search for in franchise players. Projected to be a top-5 pick in June, Monahan is off to a strong start (7 points through 4 games) in his draft year. He is a smooth skating big-bodied forward that has a real knack for finding open areas. Monahan excels in puck possession and can unload his hard accurate shot at the drop of a dime. He’s a responsible player on both sides of the puck and will be counted upon in all situations as he is mature beyond his years. While some draft prospects will fade and dwindle, Monahan’s consistency and complete game should keep him in discussion for a top-5 selection all season long. – Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook: A+
