Observations:

May 2013 – Brendan Gallagher has been named a Calder Trophy candidate joining fellow nominees Jonathan Huberdeau (Florida) and Brandon Saad (Chicago). Gallagher finished the regular season fourth in rookie scoring after scoring 15 goals (second among rookies) and 28 points in 44 games with the Montreal Canadiens. Brendan Ross

March 2013 – Gallagher has made the jump to the Montreal Canadiens and sits third among all rookies with 16 points in 23 contests. He has successfully transitioned his game to the NHL despite his size. The only remaining question is his durability because of the abuse he takes going to the net as much as he does. Eric Daoust

December 2012 – Currently leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 11 points (six goals) in 18 games. He speed is such a weapon through the neutral zone; it constantly keeps defensemen on their heels and off balance. He has put on seven pounds and does not need much more to reach a peak weight of 190. It would not be any surprised if he found himself starting in Montreal when the NHL resumes. Jason Banks

June 2012 – Gallagher finished up his 4th WHL season with the Vancouver Giants by netting 41 goals and 77 points in 54 games, he added 10 points in the 6 game opening round loss for the Giants. Gallagher has signed an entry level contract with Montreal, and looks to start next season in the AHL with the Bulldogs. Todd Poole

February 2012 – Despite his small frame and below average strength, Brendan Gallagher continues to be one of the WHL’s most feared forwards. Gallagher also got the chance to represent Canada in the 2012 World Junior Championship. He was very effective playing in a top-six role for the Canadians. In 6 games he put up 3 goals and 3 assists. Back in the WHL, he continues to be the backbone of the Vancouver Giants, leading them in scoring with 68 points in only 42 games. Gallagher will catch the eye of Montreal’s management with his top-notch intensity and hockey sense. Look for him to play in Hamilton on the Canadiens AHL affiliate in 2012-13.

Fantasy Outlook: B

If he can overcome the size factor at the next level, fantasy owners might have a steal on their hands.
