D

Defensemen

Luke Hughes

By |2025-01-31T12:40:32-05:00July 16th, 2024|

A smooth-skating defender with a projectable frame, Hughes is going to put up some points and will be a premier powerplay quarterback for the NTDP.

Ethan Edwards

Elite skater with impressive offensive tools (passing, shooting, stickhandling) - must work on his D-zone effort and positioning to make the jump. Physicality will always be a weakness, but could end up being a bottom-four puck-moving blueliner if things go well. Fantasy leagues with emphasis on points for D-men will likely benefit from this prospect if he makes the NHL.

Kevin Bahl

By |2025-01-31T12:24:10-05:00July 16th, 2024|

At this point Bahl seems more of a defensive defenseman and doesn't offer much fantasy wise other than in leagues that count stats like hits, blocked shots and penalty minutes.

Matvei Shuravin

By |2025-02-24T10:21:18-05:00July 13th, 2024|

A large defenseman that can skate well and shut down opponents at a high level. His offensive and transition game are in question but considering his strong skating foundation Shuravin could develop into a competent middle-pairing defenseman who can pitch in offensively.

Owen Protz

By |2025-01-31T12:41:45-05:00July 8th, 2024|

Protz excels in the physical side of hockey, with a persistent motor for big hits. Many negative aspects of his game could be addressed with significant skating improvements.

Tyrel Bauer

By |2025-01-31T12:03:19-05:00July 5th, 2024|

High energy, physical, pro-framed right-shot defensive defenseman. Lays heavy hits and will matchup and shutdown opponents top players. Shows capable puck moving ability, along with exceptional leadership qualities. As a prototypical stay-at-home defenseman, he has additional value in peripheral category leagues including hits, blocks, PIMS, and plus minus.
