Fantasy Summary

A physical, defense-minded defenseman.

Observations

December 2025 – Loke Johansson, just 19, is one of the youngest players in the Bruins’ system and has already been pressed into regular AHL duty. Injuries and call-ups on Providence’s blueline opened a spot for him sooner than expected, giving the rookie a crash course in American League hockey. Johansson began the year in the ECHL with the Maine Mariners, where he posted two assists in nine games. Since joining Providence, he’s still looking for his first AHL point in ten appearances. The jump has been steep, which is no surprise for a teenager adjusting from the QMJHL to facing full-grown pros every night.
With Jordan Harris, Jonathan Aspirot, Michael Callahan, and Max Wanner all sidelined, Providence did not have much choice but to bring Johansson up. He’s learning on the fly, but the organization knew he would be a long-term project from the moment they signed him.
Johansson’s game is built on size, strength, and defensive reliability. He plays a heavy, physical style and showed last season in Moncton that he can shut opponents down effectively. His skating is a legitimate asset, and he’s adapted well to the smaller North American ice. Offensively, though, his ceiling is limited; he doesn’t have the tools to drive play in the attacking zone. Even so, the Bruins see growth. Johansson has already made significant strides since arriving in North America, and the early-season struggles in Providence don’t change his long-term outlook. Time is firmly on his side.
From a fantasy perspective, he is not a player to target, as Johansson is still several years away from being NHL-ready, and his style does not project much value in most formats. Kenny Kaminsky

June 2025- Johansson’s first season in North America was an incredible introduction to the young defender. Fresh off signing his ELC with Boston, Johansson established himself on the Moncton Wildcats’ blueline. Though his four goals and 18 assists wouldn’t suggest a strong offensive knack, he found his confidence in the playoffs. Johansson scored twice and added nine assists in 19 postseason games. Fantasy managers will be happy with the year and can look forward to seeing him build on this foundation next season. His contract status, proximity to Boston and early performance warrant a place on your watchlist. Alex Wyatt.

November 2024 – Johansson signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins. Mark Henry

June 2024 – The Boston Bruins drafted Johansson in the sixth round (186th overall) in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Mark Henry
