January 2025 - Johansson has taken on 20 lbs since being drafted by the Leafs in the fourth round of the 2024 draft. Don't let that growth fool you, Johansson is still somewhat undersized at 165lbs, although it's a positive step forward. He's shown improvements at both sides of the ice, now more engaged overall. Cerebral playmaker with a heavy shot. Skating and finesse in board battles allow him to play openly on a power play.
An intelligent defensive forward with upside as a slot-driven playmaker in a middle-six role.
Do-it-all, two-way playmaking forward
Highly skilled two-way forward who brings pace and intensity
A big, intelligent, strong winger with a scoring touch but lacks offensive creativity—projects as a bottom-six net-front presence that’s hard to knock off the puck. Skates well for his size and has a good shot, but he needs time to develop his all-around game—limited fantasy upside.
An offense-minded defenseman with excellent vision and passing skills. Has the potential to be a top-four NHL defenseman and can run a powerplay unit. The defensive side needs some work, as being over-aggressive in his end leads to missed coverage.
A massive goalie who needs to refine many of his details and habits but could go high on draft day and develop well.
The 19 year old Larsson, listed at six foot three and 203 pounds, is a sturdy, puck-moving defenseman with an accurate shot. Larsson will spend the 2023-24 campaign with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL, and then will be on to the NCAA for the 2024-25 season. Drafted as an overager, Larsson will need plenty of development time over the course of the next few seasons, as he attempts to earn himself an NHL contract. Luckily for Larsson and the Rangers organization, the club holds his signing rights until August 15, 2028. If it all comes together for Larsson, he can become a big, bruising bottom-four NHL defenseman.
