June 2026 – Hurtig signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames in April 2026. His deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $990K and runs through the 2028-29 season. Chris Babos

March 2026 – Hurtig essentially maintained his production in his second WHL season, posting six goals and 18 points in 61 games while wearing the captain’s C for the Hitmen – a strong vote of confidence from a franchise which had only known this player for two years. He has done everything Calgary could have asked of him in junior, and thus where he plays next season will be telling – an AHL assignment would signal the Flames see him as a legitimate development project worth accelerating, while a move to the NCAA or ECHL might indicate a desire for more seasoning on a prospect that is a little more interesting than they’d likely imagined he’d be to this point. A watchlist candidate in leagues with peripheral categories, though the offensive ceiling remains modest. Ryan Downey

June 2025- Fans and fantasy managers alike were likely glad to see Calgary’s 2023 7th round pick come across the pond to play in the WHL. He suited up for 55 games for the Calgary Hitmen, scoring five goals and adding 11 assists and 29 PIM. With Carter Yakemchuk on the squad, Hurtig was not relied upon to provide much by way of offense, but he used his hulking frame to protect the defensive zone, and finished with a plus 39, good for second on the squad. For managers in leagues with peripheral categories, Hurtig is a good bet to watchlist as he continues to hone his craft close to his NHL squad. Alex Wyatt
