Kristian Vesalainen of the HPK Hämeenlinna had an amazing month in January. Seven goals and 14 points in 10 games. His 19 goals and 38 points in 42 games is good enough to land him at 16th place in league scoring. Vesalainen has not been able to keep his pace up through the start of February, but is still rolling along nicely with four goals and five points in six games. This scoring outburst did not come with an assistance from an unsustainable shooting percentage. Vesalainen has been steadily shooting at around 13% throughout the season. How ever there was a dramatic rise in his shots on goal. From the start of the season to the end of December he had registered 68 shots on goal in 28 games. In the month of January alone, he had 52.

The 2018 draft eligible, Niklas Nordgren assisted on Jesse Moilanen’s game winning goal at the U18 Five Nations tournament. Nordgren is one of the most offensively talented players on this Finnish team. He has great offensive instincts and a soft set of hands. For an undersized forward it is important that he continues to further improve his skating.

Another draft eligible forward, Lenni Killinen is also representing Finland in this tournament. His 13 goals and 41 points in 38 games with the Espoo Blues U20 team speaks for his offensive capabilities. He can handle the puck with ease, possesses a quick release and an accurate wrist shot. Likes to drive to the net. Killinen is an interesting combination of skill, size and speed.
