Observations:

 

February 2014 – Killorn continues to be a reliable top-six option for Tampa Bay. He’s tied for fourth among Lightning forwards with 32 points and has received regular time on Tampa Bay’s second power play unit. Killorn appears to be establishing himself as one of the permanent left wingers on the top two scoring lines. Due to the injury to Steven Stamkos, the team has experimented using Killorn at the center ice position with lukewarm results. Killorn played all four years as a center during his time with Harvard but at the NHL level, it appears he’s best utilized as a winger. The upcoming Olympic break will likely serve Killorn well. as a former college player, he’s still getting used to playing the large amount of games required of a professional. Randy Buschmann

 

October 2013 – As expected, Killorn made Tampa Bay’s roster out of training camp. The left winger will start the season on a line with Valterri Filppula and Teddy Purcell. He should be considered a full-time NHLer at this point and is highly unlikely to get demoted to the AHL. Randy Buschmann

 

March 2013 – Since joining the Lightning last month, Alex Killorn’s role with the team has increased steadily. His poise and confidence in handling the puck and knack for creating scoring opportunities has seen him earning top line duty with Vincent Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis. Thru 16 games, Killorn’s four goals and ten points places him just outside the top five in scoring amongst Lightning forwards. Killorn was recently told by Lightning GM Steve Yzerman to find a place to stay permanently in the Tampa Bay area, which indicates he has no plans on sending the talented young forward back to the minors. February 2013 – Killorn has continued to emerge as an offensive weapon in the AHL while remaining an under the radar prospect. Killorn has posted 16 goals and 38 points thru 44 games, good enough for 3rd among rookies in the AHL. When the Lightning wanted to add more size and speed to their lineup, Killorn was promoted to the big club on February 10th. Killorn notched an assist and played over 13 minutes in his first NHL game. Randy Buschmann

 

December 2012 – Still an offensive presence for Syracuse, but not an offensive leader. Tyler Johnson and Cory Conacher are the big guns while Killorn has settled into a secondary role with 12 points in 17 games. Rounding into dependable two-way player who will need another AHL season after this one to get his offensive game going, or he’ll never be an NHL first liner. But becoming more responsible defensively is important and clearly he is working on that. Dobber

 

May 2012 – Killorn is an offensive-minded player with good instincts in the offensive zone. His vision and anticipation create chances for his teammates as well as himself. He has some grit to his game and will take a hit to make a play. Killorn finished his career at Harvard on a strong note, posting 46 points in 34 games as a senior. Is still rounding out his overall game and still has some work to do defensively. Rich Dillon

 

Fantasy Outlook: B

 

Killorn’s upside is a second-line forward who could put up solid point production with the right linemates. He has competition for playing time in Tampa from Brett Connolly, JT Brown, Cory Conacher and others, so he’ll need to continue to improve.
