Observations:

March 2016 – Ouelette has been recalled to the AHL Lehigh Valley Phantoms from the ECHL Reading Royals due the the Michael Neuvirth injury with the Flyers. Stolarz has been called up from the Phantoms to the Flyers, allowing Ouelette to gain experience at the AHL level. Ouelette has been enjoying a successful season with the ECHL Reading Royals sporting a 2.07 GAA along with a .923 save percentage through 30 games. He has seen three games at the AHL level posting a 4.50 GAA with a .877 save percentage. – Lee Rayson

April 2014 – Ouelette completed a proper 2013-2014 season with the Maine Black Bears of the NCAA. The team finished the season ranked 24th in the nation. This was Ouellette’s second season as the starting goaltender and improved from a 9-12-8 record to 15-15-4. He started 34 of Maine’s 35 games and finished the season with an impressive .925 SV% and 2.29 GAA.  Although his GAA was a bit higher last season, he did start more contests and had a higher overall SV%. He is continually developing his positioning and cutting down angles. Next season, Oulette is likely to get a few starts for the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. This will be an important juncture for him to display his talents. Bobrovsky is the starter of the Jackets for the foreseeable future, but it’s undecided whether McElhinney will be re-signed as the back-up (he’s 30, but has played decently this season). Mike McKenna and Jeremy Smith are on the last years of their respective contracts. Decisions on whether or not to extend offers to these two, combined with the play of fellow draftees Oscar Dansk and Anton Forsberg, will further indicate Ouelette’s fate. Chris Bagwell

Fantasy Outlook: C-

It’ll be a tough battle, but if he can outplay his competitors/teammates, he has a shot at the NHL in a few years.
