Observations:
May 23, 2016 – Justin Florek signed a two-way deal with the Islanders in July of 2015, after registering 11 goals and 35 points with the Providence Bruins. In his first season with the Sound Tigers, Florek posted his worst career AHL numbers, managing only seven goals and 16 points. He will become a Group VI unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2016. Expect the former Northern Michigan University standout to either sign another two-way deal or perhaps explore his opportunities in Europe. Brent Craswell
April 2014 – Florek scored his first NHL playoff goal this week for the Bruins against the Red Wings. The Michigan native was called up one week ago and has made the most of the opportunity, and is now playing on the third line. Florek is a winger with decent size who could develop into a solid third- or fourth-line player in the not-too-distant future. Michael Boeckler
September 2012 – Justin Florek has a lot going for him as a hockey player. He is big and strong, has a good shot and is a smart player. He is also a leader who will accept any role and do it to the best of his ability. Florek played in the CCHA at northern Michigan, where he amassed 116 points in 157 career games. Florek is a good defensive player and an accomplished penalty killer as well.
Fantasy Outlook: D-
Florek is getting older and his AHL numbers have been declining. It’s unlikely that he will become a permanent fixture in an NHL lineup
