Observations:
February 2018 – Leipsic has been traded to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenseman, Philip Holm at the 2018 NHL deadline. The spitfire forward has produced elite AHL numbers – 105 points in his final 114 games, and has looked strong in a bottom six role with Vegas this season scoring two goals and 12 points in 41 contests while playing 12 minutes a night. the 23-year-old brings a Brad Marchand-style of game to the rink each night that agitates opponents and endears fans. This is the hard-nosed type of player that GM, Jim Benning has been searching for of late. Cam Robinson
February 2018 – Brendan Leipsic has been able to stick with the Golden Knights during his official NHL rookie season. Over the first 44 games he’s been able to post 14 points while averaging just under 12 minutes of ice time, including 55 seconds on the power play per game. He was never able to stick with the Maple Leafs but has done a decent job playing bottom-six minutes with Vegas. He’s a long way away from the 120 points he posted in his draft-plus-one year with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL, but he has the opportunity to move up the depth chart in the next couple of seasons if he can continue to earn a more significant role. Mason Black
June 2017 – The Vegas Golden Knights have selected Brendan Leipsic in the Expansion Draft. Paul Zwambag
February 2016 – Leipsic played his first NHL game in Vancouver as an emergency recall and scored! Leipsic skated on the fourth line while even strength, but was thrown on the power-play early and often. He looked very nervous with the puck early on, passing up a few opportunities to skate with puck for quick passes and dumps, but I stated to a friend early “He may find himself on the scoresheet.” just judging on his positioning and opportunities he was being given. Colleague Brendan Ross, correctly predicted his getting an recall this season a couple years ago in the ‘outlook’. Obviously he is a recallable player now, who has been rather hot in the AHL with 11 points in as many games. He has really taken a step since teammates Michael Nylander and Kaspari Kapanen left for World Juniors and he became a go to player for the team. His future is that of a mid-liner who plays the game strong, tenacious in the dirty areas with very good offensive skills. He is in the mix to be an NHL regular next year. His flaws are that he is susceptible to taking poor penalties in battles and can give up after a poor play. Jason Banks
February 2015 – On February 15th, Toronto traded Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli to Nashville for prospect Brendan Leipsic, veteran Olli Jokinen and Nashville's 2015 first round selection. In his first pro season with the Milwaukee Admirals, Leipsic has scored 7G and added 29 assists for 36 points (second on the team). The former WHL goal scoring champ is a small creative forward with solid offensive upside who also has some grit. He has proven to be a valuable contributor at every level. Brendan Ross
May 2013 – Predators' prospect Brendan Leipsic is the co-recipient of the CHL Top Scorer award with linemate Nic Petan (2013 NHL Draft eligible). The teammates each recorded 120 points to lead all three CHL leagues and Leipsic's 49 goals fell one shy of crossing the 50-goal plateau. Leipsic possesses one of the best shots in the CHL and projects as a true sniper at the next level. Brendan Ross
March 2013 – Brendan Leipsic and Winterhawks' teammate Nic Petan finished in a tie for first place in Western Hockey League scoring with 120 points. Leipsic's 49 goals led the league in scoring and his 100+ penalty minute season bodes well for his fantasy value. Brendan Ross
December 2012 – Portland Winterhawks forward Brendan Leipsic has been named WHL Player of the Week (ending November 25) after posting three goals, nine points and a plus-5 rating. Leipsic sits second in team scoring with 15 goals for 38 points through 22 WHL games. Brendan Ross
June 2012 – After an impressive WHL season, Brendan Liepsic was taken by the Nashville Predators in the third round of the NHL Entry Draft. Leipsic is a small, energetic forward with very good vision and stickhandling abilities. His skill set can be used in a variety of ways, including the power play, or even playing on a checking line. His mixture of smarts and skill make him a very enticing prospect. He will need to bulk up to make up for his lack of size. Leipsic also needs to work on his discipline and avoid taking bad penalties. Zenon Herasymiuk
