Observations:

November 2016 — After a heralded free agent signing by the Rangers in mid August, Vesey has fit right in on the big stage in New York.  Through a dozen games with the Blueshirts the speedy left winger has tallied 6G and 4A producing at an overall 0.83 points-per-game.  Skating in the top-six, he has been averaging more than 14:30 minutes ice time while also contributing on the power play.  While off to a promising start it will be interesting to see how Jimmy’s production holds up over the demands of a lengthy professional season. – Geoff Kent

August 2016 – On August 15th, Jimmy Vesey became an Unrestricted Free Agent after declining to ink an ELC with the Buffalo Sabres. #VeseyWatch lasted for an agonizing four days but finally ended when the dynamic winger elected to sign with the New York Rangers on August 19th. While it’s a near certainty that Vesey will get extended looks on the Rangers’ top line and top power play unit, where he fits in long term is still a complete unknown. Because of the opportunities that Vesey will get and because of his high potential, he is a must-start in any fantasy league. Dylan Finan

June 2016 – Vesey's exclusive rights have been traded to the Buffalo Sabres, Nashville in return gets a 2016 3rd round pick (originally Minnesota's, 76th overall). The Sabres will try to sign Vesey to a contract before the August 15th deadline, when he becomes a free agent. He is NHL-ready, and could compete for a top-six role with the Sabres. GM Tim Murray will try his best to sign him as soon as possible.

March 2016 – After another big season for Harvard where he received a Hobey Baker nomination and took his team to within one win a a Frozen Four appearence, Jimmy Vesey has informed the Nashville Predators he will excercise his right for free agency on August 15th and is not signing with the Preds. There is a lot of speculation that Vesey will sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs where his father is a scout and his brother is a prospect in the system as well. Vesey was offered a top six role with Nashville in a contract offer for the balance of the season which would have burned off a year of his ELC. Peter Harling

May 2015 – Vesey's junior season with the Harvard Crimson was nothing short of spectacular. With 32 goals and 58 points in 37 games Vesey nearly tripled his previous high in points, and finished 3rd overall in the nation. His performance earned him a Hobey Baker nomination as well as a spot on the USA World Championship roster. Vesey's meteoric rise did not go unnoticed by the Predators management. As reported by Bob McKenzie, GM David Poile was quoted as saying "Jimmy is a player we believe we could put in our (NHL) lineup right now." Despite being seemingly ready for the pro ranks, Vesey has announced his intent to return to Harvard for his senior year. Donesh Mazloum

May 2013 – Drafted by Nashville in the second round of the 2012 draft after tearing up the EJHL to the tune of over two points per game, Vesey took his talents to the Ivy league in 2013 suiting up for Harvard. Despite the team finishing last in the conference, Vesey was a bright spot finishing third in team scoring with 11 goals and 18 points in 27 games, as well as leading the Crimson forwards in penalty minutes. Vesey's efforts earned him a nod to the ECAC all-rookie team as well as being named Ivy League rookie of the year. Vesey also experienced team success as a member of gold medal winning Team USA at the 2013 World Junior Championships, where he notched 5 points in 7 games. Vesey is a strong forward with good size and a knack for scoring goals. While it may be a while before he sees any NHL action he has a fairly high offensive ceiling. Donesh Mazloum

Fantasy Outlook: B+

Vesey shows NHL size and speed and accelerated his offensive development at Harvard. Already receiving NHL big minutes and PP time.
