Observations:

September 2015 – Bunz was no re-signed by the Oilers at the end of his entry-level contract and is now an unrestricted free agent.

February 2015 – In 2013-14, Tyler Bunz experienced a bounce-back season with the Bakersfield Condors. The strong and consistent play earned him four starts with Oklahoma City where he went posted two wins to go along with a .901 save percentage.

This season, now with the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL, spot starts have been much harder to come by due to the stellar play from both Richard Bachman and Laurent Brossoit. So far Bunz has spent his entire third professional season with Wichita and is struggling. He has started less games (17 out of a possible 44) than his partner, undrafted journeyman Tim Boron, and the frustration may be mounting. Bunz participated in a fight on January 31 against Missouri, one of the few highlights of his relatively disappointing season. Bunz needs to turn things around quickly if he is to gain the faith of the Oiler's head office. Tyler Thomson

September 2013 – Since his final WHL season, Tyler Bunz's hockey career hasn't flourished as expected. Bunz backstopped the ECHL's Stockton Thunder in 2012-13 posting a 3.35 goals-against-average and .886 save percentage. Heading into the 2013-14 season, Tyler Bunz's best case scenario is serving as back-up to Olivier Roy with the Oklahoma City Barons, but there's no guarantee for that position. Brendan Ross

June 2012 – Bunz was the WHL’s top goaltender this year, winning the Del Wilson Trophy. He was the anchor of the Medicine Hat Tigers this year and got a very long look at making Team Canada for the WJC in December. He had a 2.57 GAA with a 0.921 SV%, with a record was 39-17-2-3 with three shutouts. Bunz always finds a way to stick with the play and is rock solid in net, rarely giving up a soft goal. Bunz isn’t overly big, but his size shouldn’t hold him back. Look for him to play in Oklahoma City (AHL) next year.

Fantasy Outlook: D

Great success at the junior level but has not translated at the professional level as of yet. Looking for a spot to land and continue his professional development.
