Observations:

January 2015  – Just past the midway point of the NHL season and Andersen has been a Top 3 fantasy goalie. He has such a firm hold on the No.1 job that John Gibson loses a couple of years of fantasy relevance. Andersen has most certainly arrived. Dobber

October 2014 – Andersen has leapfrogged himself over Gibson to start the 2014-2015 campaign with a 6-0-0 record with a .951SV% and a 1.52GAA. Over this span, he has only allowed eight goals. Although a small sample size, it looks like the Ducks’ decision to part with Hiller and Fasth has worked out relatively well. Andersen is your guy right now, while Gibson will get the occasional start. –Kevin Won

March 2014 – Andersen has been a surprise candidate all season, currently with a 16-5 record with a 2.26 GAA and .924 SV%. Who would’ve known he would leapfrog John Gibson, Fasth would be traded, and he would be splitting starts with Hiller for the occasional stint. It doesn’t hurt that a team like Anaheim is playing in front of you. Andersen has been seeing more time in March, perhaps for the reason of resting Hiller for the playoffs so they can have two strong goaltenders in hopes of a long playoff run. He should continue to split starts until the end of the year before letting Hiller take over the starting duties for the postseason. –Kevin Won

January 2014 – Andersen has been sent back down to the Norfolk Admirals. He had another successful stint, posting a 3-1 record. He should be back up soon if another injury happens. –Kevin Won

November, 2013 – After being called up in mid-October, Andersen has posted four wins in four games, with a 1.36 GAA and .952 SV%. In total, he has only let in five goals so far. With Fasth still on the IR, Anaheim is riding the confidence of Andersen’s play. During this stretch, the Ducks also announced that Andersen was signed to a two-year contract extension. Anaheim continues to boast one of the strong goaltending pipelines from top to bottom, and Andersen’s play has been nothing short of fantastic. He will most likely get sent down once Fasth comes off the IR, but at this stage he will do anything to prove otherwise. –Kevin Won

March 2013 – Andersen left the Admirals at the end of January to join the Danish National team for Olympic Games qualifying, it was a blessing in disguise as Jeff Deslauriers was demoted also and the crease was becoming crowded. The experience was strong for Andersen as he allowed only a pair of goals in two contests and had a .960 SV%. Since his return to the AHL, he has rode a wave of confidence with four wins in five starts and has been very stingy with a 1.77 GAA and .932 SV% in six appearances since his return. Unfortunately, the outlook in Anaheim is very questionable with fellow top prospects Igor Bobkov, John Gibson around at the moment and the veteran Deslauriers in the picture, but the approaching deadline could change the location of someone or even himself. Jason Banks

January, 2013 – Andersen plays a big and raw game. He uses his size to fill the net quite well, but still needs to work on some of his mechanics. As with larger goalies, speed can be an issue, but having done so well in Frolunda, and more recently, for the Norfolk Admirals (AHL), he is refining his game to the North American style fairly well. –Tim Graveline

Fantasy Outlook: A

Has shown an excellent adjustment to the North American game and comes with a wealth of maturity, he is currently at a level where he can be an NHL starter today.
