Observations:

April 2016 – McKenzie has been called up, along with Texas linemate Jason Dickinson, and should see game action as the Stars take on Colorado. All signs point to Ruff favouring continuity and keeping McKenzie and Dickinson together with Nichushkin rounding out the second line. Through 58 AHL games, McKenzie has accumulated 51 points. Brad Phillips

March 2016 – One of the Stars' older prospects, McKenzie is having another great offensive season for Texas with 43 points in 48 games placing him fourth on the team. After having played 31 games in the NHL last season he's played just two this year, with the Stars favouring the likes of Devin Shore, Brett Ritchie and Radek Faksa. At this stage in his career he's looking like a tweener. Brad Phillips

November 2014 – During his time in Dallas McKenzie was mostly a healthy scratch. He did see action in two games skating on a line with vets Vern Fiddler and Ales Hemsky but did not record a point. Since his return to Cedar Park on Oct 29, McKenzie has two points in three games skating with Travis Morin on the top line. Rex Doty

October 2014 – McKenzie has been called up by Dallas. Coming off an opening night victory in Cedar Park where he had a goal and an assist McKenzie finds himself back in Big D where after two games they could use some offensive spark. The Stars had only been carrying 22 on their roster so there were no moves needed to create an opening. McKenzie is also waiver exempt should Dallas later decide to return him to Cedar Park. No word yet on whether he will dress for the game on Tuesday, Oct. 14 in Columbus. Rex Doty

September 2014 – McKenzie made a good showing in preseason but it just wasn't enough to crack the talented Dallas forward corps. McKenzie will be headed back down to Cedar Park where he will be a key figure once again for Texas. Look for him to receive lots of attention for call ups as the season goes along. Rex Doty

September 2014 – McKenzie hasn't been one to rest on his laurels fllowing his breakout season in Cedar Park in 2013-14. He has put together a very good camp and pre-season thus far and is making a strong impression. McKenzie has put himself in a good position to land a spot in Big D at least to start the season, a fact that's all the more important so long as Cody Eakin remains unsigned. Rex Doty

January 2014 – McKenzie was named the CCM/AHL Rookie of the Month after recording 12 points (five goals, seven assists) through 11 games in the month of December. Leading the Stars to a 9-1-1 record, he tallied five multiple-point performances, including the game-winning goal on the road against San Antonio on Dec. 15. The 22-year old rookie has emerged into one of the Stars' most intriguing prospects, recording 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) through 37 games this season. Clayton Bailey

April 2013 – McKenzie has signed a two year ELC with the Stars effective with the 2013-14 season. He is currently on an ATO with the AHL Stars for the remainder of this season. In his final collegiate season at Miami(OH) he had 24 points and 80 PIM in 39 games. Rex Doty

February 2012 – A physical, hard-nosed player, McKenzie is versatile enough to play both forward and defense at Miami (Ohio) University. He is limited offensively (53 points in 113 career games), but has good defensive awareness. Rich Dillon

Fantasy Outlook: B-

McKenzie should be among the top callup candidates for Dallas this season, but AHL numbers won't translate to NHL.
