Observations:
October 2015 – After back-to-back 100-plus point QMJHL seasons, the "Dashing Dane" Nikolaj Ehlers is ready for his next challenge. Nikolaj Ehlers may not have had the most appealing development camp this past summer but he certainly ramped up his play when main camp opened up. Outside of McDavid and Eichel, Ehlers is the most intriguing prospect in terms of pure offensive upside. Playing alongside Matthieu Perreault and trigger man Mark Scheifele, Ehlers is set up well to produce offensively. With one goal and three points for Ehlers in four games and an impressive 15 shots on goal (leads all rookies), he has lived up to his offensive hype. Brendan Ross
January 2015 – Nikolai Ehlers has been on fire in January, with 12 points in five games so far following the World Juniors, and is continuing on his 19-game point streak. Of the 28 games he has played to date, he has only been pointless in four of them. Kevin Won
January 2015 – Nikolaj Ehlers carried his electrifying play into the World Juniors, finishing with four points in five games. He carried his team for most of the tournament as Denmark was able to avoid relegation. As the tournament progressed, he seemed to lose steam as they were riding the top line very hard all tournament long. Expect him to pick it right back up with the Mooseheads. Kevin Won
December 2014 – Nikolai Ehlers has been named QMJHL first star for the month for November. In 12 November games, Ehlers racked up 34 points (12 goals, 22 assists). Expect him to continue to tear up the Q. Kevin Won
September 2014 – Ehlers is turning heads at the Youngstars Tournament held in Penticton, BC. He put up a two goals, a spectacular no-look pass, and a shootout goal versus Edmonton. His electrifying skating and quick release is already NHL ready. Ehlers has already stated his desire to make the camp this season, so he will do everything he can to open up a spot for himself on the Jets this season. Don't be surprised to see the Jets management send him back down for a year with the Mooseheads as he is still not eligible to play for the IceCaps. Kevin Won
September 2014 – Nikolai Ehlers has been signed to a three-year entry level deal worth an average annual value of 1.625 million per year. Kevin Won
July 2014 – Ehlers has been impressing at the Jets Prospect Development Camp. Every time he had the puck, he was able to control the play and make things happen. He also got nice reviews from GM Cheveldayoff. Ehlers is a speedy forward that has elusive skating and electrifying moved. The Jets have a very exciting prospect on their hands in a few years. June 2014 – The Winnipeg Jets selected Nikolaj Ehlers 9th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Brendan Ross
February 2014 – Imported from Denmark, Ehlers has replaced the scoring void quite nicely after Nathan MacKinnon made the leap to the Colorado Avalanche. Like his predecessor in Halifax, Ehlers is one of the fastest skaters in the draft, blazing past defenders and utilizing his dynamic elusive cuts in and out of traffic to create room. The depth of intelligence Ehlers possesses for the game allows him to adopt both a shooter and playmaker’s mentality. Rising up draft boards quickly. Brendan Ross
Fantasy Outlook: A-
Tremendously gifted offensive player with the tools and intelligence to crack an NHL top line down the road, Nikolaj Ehlers is a promising fantasy prospect. Adding strength will be the biggest obstacle for Ehlers.
