Observations:

Aug 2015 – Brown signed a two-year two-way contract in July per Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post. He is getting passed quickly by other Capital prospects, so he needs to do someting soon to make a mark on the NHL roster. He will be a good cheap source of hits and pims if called up this year. Pat Quinn

March 2015 – Brown has been underwhelming since he joined the Bears full-time in November. His AHL numbers have declined each yeah he has been in the in the league, which is concerning. He has 15 goals in 50 games far off from the 29 he posted in 68 games in the 2012-2013 season, and has only eight assists. At 24 years old he is appearing to be more of a third/fourth line checker than a top six forward. Pat Quinn

November 2014 – Brown was reassigned to the Hershey Bears for the second time on November 22nd, after a recall that lasted eight days. He has been up and down all year as when he does see time for the Capitals it tends to be minimal minutes or healthy scratches. For the Bears he currently has three points in six games while paying top six minutes. Hopefully this is the last year Brown plays in the AHL as he should begin plaing full time for the Capitals next season. Pat Quinn

Aug 2014 – Brown played on four different teams last season after a late season trade to Washington from Phoenix/Arizona. Brown still had a respectable 40 points in 63 games while adding a career high in assists. He has only seen limited minutes in his NHL tenure to date and should see an increase on his 9:56 average TOI last season under new coach Adam Oates. He has a good chance to make the Caps out of training camp but do not expect a top six role any time soon. He will come along slowly and should be a decent pick-up for hits and PIMs in deep leagues this season. Keep an eye on Brown throughout training camp and the season to see how he is being utilized, as his production this season is highly uncertain. Pat Quinn

March 2014 – Brown has been traded, along with Rostislav Klesla, to the Capitals for Martin Erat and John Mitchell. Brown is on pace for a 25-goal, 55-point, 110-PIM and 200+ shots in this his second AHL season. He is close to NHL-ready and will push for a spot in the fall. Dobber

October 2013 – After a strong rookie-pro season in the AHL during 2012-2013 and a good training camp this season, Brown started the current campaign in Phoenix. Playing on the fourth line averaging about six minutes a game, Brown was scoreless with seventeen penalty minutes after three games. After the Coyotes took a couple of losses, Brown was re-assigned to Portland on Oct. 9th. In Portland, Brown will definitely play more minutes than when he was with Phoenix, where he can continue to work on his power forward game. Keith Duggan

May 2013 – Brown burst onto the professional scene with 29 goals in 68 games as a rookie in the AHL. He eclipsed his combined goal total from his last two years of college hockey by eight goals, which is very encouraging from a power forward in the making. He was called up for five games with the Coyotes, and generally impressed in limited duties, though he must work on his stickhandling. Although he had no points, he averaged a hit and a shot in around seven and a half minutes per game. Austin Wallace

February 2012 – Brown plays an aggressive, physical style and has good skills. His game has yet to translate into offensive production at Michigan, however, scoring 13, nine and 11 so far in his first three seasons. Rich Dillon

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Brown is starting to look like a better fit as a potential third liner and will need to show more soon as an NHLer if he hopes to become a top sixer.
