Observations:

April 2018 – After a rather pedestrian rookie season, Robert Hagg has yet to make his Stanley Cup Playoff debut due Coach Hakstol’s decision. Given that the Flyers are clashing with the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins, it would be nothing if not a tough defensive assignment for his premier tour of Stanley Cup Playoff duty. March 2017 – It has taken the better part of three AHL seasons, but Robert Hägg is starting to take more initiative in his play. It shows with his 42 minutes in the sin bin despite playing fewer games so far this year. That being said, he is also more disciplined in when he is throwing the body as indicated in his improved plus-minus performance. Any fantasy value he has in the future is likely to be mainly in peripherals such as these.  Edric Joseph

June 2016 – Unfortunately, Hägg did not take a step forward in his development during his second full AHL campaign. His offense slipped to the tune of  five goals and 11 points through 65 games, while his play in the defensive zone was lacking at times. Hägg offers a vanilla package of tools that won't overwhelm opponents, but when on his game, offer a sound two-way structure that teams look for. With a prominent crop of defenders ascending on Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia beginning in 2016-17, Hägg will need to push forward or be left behind. – Cam Robinson

February 2016 – Hägg is having a less productive year offensively in his second full season at the AHL level. With only five points through 43 games so far compared to 20 points in 69 games the previous year, his offense has taken a step back with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Despite the lower production, Hägg has remained a responsible player that can play in all situations. With fellow prospect Gostisbehere now establishing himself firmly at the NHL level, Hägg should expect to see more ice time to aid in his development. – Lee Rayson

February 2015The Flyers second round pick of the 2013 NHL Draft has been more than servicable since crossing the pond at the end of last season. In 48 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms this year, the defensive propsect has recorded three goals, 14 assists and a minus-seven rating. Hägg was also a member of the lethal Team Sweden in the World Junior Championship tournament and finished with two assists in seven games. Known as a good skater with speed, it's the casual game that he will need to work on to cement his spot as an imminent NHL player. Too often this season he has lacked the intensity needed to play a full 60 minute, 200 foot game. Coach Terry Murray has been tasked with his development and his improvement is on the rise. The rest of this season and next will hugely determine just how quickly he cracks the Flyers blueline. Zach Hopkins

February 2013 – Hägg has been on draft radars for several years now as the young defender has captivated hockey scouts with his fluid mobile skating ability and poised approach that many veterans do not even possess. Hägg is a cerebral player who slows the game down with his exceptional puck moving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure. He owns a good sized frame and projects to be a top-four defender that can log both offensive and defensive minutes. Brendan Ross
