Observations:

March, 2015 – Fast is now a full time member of the New York Rangers. He began the season with the Rangers, but after just three games they sent him down to the AHL. Fast registered one goal and eight assists for nine points in 11 games with Hartford. His play was obviously NHL ready. After a month of AHL play, the Rangers called him back up and since then he is playing for the Blueshirts. He missed almost a month of NHL action in February because of a sprained knee. Fast has five goals and just 12 points in 48 games. He is playing on the fourth line with Dominic Moore and also killing penalties. He is solid offensively and defensively, exudes intelligence and strong on the forecheck. His production at NHL level will not be exactly what you are expecting from a traditional fantasy hockey player as his upside is realistically as a third line winger. He is just 23-years-old and has time to develop but don’t put too much value in his offensive upside. Jozsef Kurtosi

August, 2014 – Jesper Fast finished the season with 34 points in 46 games in the AHL. With lot of movements in Rangers bottom six forwards, Fast has legit chance to make the Rangers squad in the September training camp as a fourth line energy winger. Jozsef Kurtosi

March, 2014 – After starting his first full season in North America with the Rangers, Fast was sent down and suffered a high ankle sprain in his third game with the Wolf Pack. He missed allmost two month and returned around Christmas. In the AHL he is playing in all situations, and he is one of his team’s leading scorers. He is tiny and thin, but plays bigger than he is and very physical. Fast plays a speed, puck possession, passing game, but needs to be more selfish and shoot the puck more. He has 53 SOG in 34 games, which is an awful number from a first line player. He also needs to add more muscle. His defensive abilities will give him a real chance to crack the Rangers lineup next fall as a bottom six player. Jozsef Kurtosi

April, 2013 – Jesper Fast is an elite skater with impressive acceleration and agility. His speed is combined with a willingness to be aggressive on the forecheck which creates offensive opportunities.  His hockey sense has developed during his time with HV71, and he has displayed the ability to score. Fast’s willingness to go into traffic will serve him well in the North America, especially as he adjusts to the smaller ice-surface. In 2012-2013, Fast scored 18 goals in 47 games in the Elitserien. He has recently made the move to finish the season with the Connecticut Whale, collecting a goal in his first AHL game.

Fantasy Outlook: C+

He is a very useful bottom six forward for his team but not overly valuable in fantasy leagues, except multi-category leagues which counts hits. He has time to develop but he is likely limited to a third line winger slot at the NHL level.
