Fantasy Summary
Boka may project as a defensive defenseman long term, but as a fantasy player, upside is very limited.

September 2017 – Boka had a tough year in Michigan as the defensive defenseman saw his point totals decrease from 10 to 4, his penalty minutes ballooned, and his plus minus went from +17 to -5. While plus minus is a poor indicator of play, the trend is clear that Boka has some work to do as his career develops. He has two seasons left at Michigan, and while it’s likely he is more of a defensive defenseman long term, you hope for some level of statistical improvement while in college. Time will tell, but Boka appears to be on the backburner for now. Will Scouch
July 2016 – In his first year of with the University of Michigan, Nicholas Boka had a solid run appearing in 38 games and racking up 10 helpers along with an intriguing plus-17 rating. Though his contributions didn’t frequently make their way to the score sheet he showed he’s a capable hand at kick starting opportunities for his team from the back end in short order with his adept passing. If he can improve his shot, he’ll make a better argument for stronger fantasy consideration in future seasons. Edric Joseph
August 2015- Curiously the Minnesota Wild find themselves with a nice value pick in Nicholas Boka, one that was surely unexpected as he was an ISS top 100 skater leading up to the 2015 draft. This very well could have to do with his offensive limitations, however he projects to provide considerable defensive stability in his own zone in a fashion that embraces the physicality of the game. While building his body and improving his game all around next season you can expect Boka to suit up for the University of Michigan in the fall alongside fellow Wild prospect Nolan De Jong.
