Luke Ashton

September 2026 – Ashton took another stride forward in his sophomore NCAA season at Cornell, appearing in all 34 games and recording three goals and eight assists for 11 points while posting a plus-15 rating. The 6-foot-5 defenseman also blocked 37 shots and continued to establish himself as a reliable defensive presence for the Big Red. After transferring from Minnesota State following his freshman season, Ashton has now produced 24 points in 72 career NCAA games and will return to Cornell for his junior season in 2026-27. July 2025 – Ashton played 38 games at the NCAA level in 2024-25, putting up 13 points. He is going to be a defensive minded player at higher levels so the minimal offensive production is no surprise. Look for Ashton to play another couple of seasons in the NCAA before signing an entry level contract with Columbus and progressing to the AHL ranks as a bottom four defender. Should he make it to the NHL in the next four to five years, he likely tops out as a bottom pair defender that gets your fantasy team hits and blocks, not much else. Ioan Gheordanescu
