Lukas Parik

June 2022 – Parik put together a benchmark season in his first full year in North America, posting a solid .915 save percentage and a 2.69 GAA over 32 games for the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL. His playoffs did not lack dramatics either, staving off elimination multiple times and backstopping the Rush to a quarter-finals appearance in the Kelly Cup playoffs. Coming off a one-year minor league deal, the organization will have to decide what to do for Parik’s next contract. The Slovak netminder should compete for the backup role in Ontario, but with a few young goalies in the pipeline, Parik will have his work cut out for him as he makes a push for the promotion. December 2020 – The Czech goaltender has been on loan this season playing in his native Czech Republic awaiting the WHL season to commence. The netminder started the second game for the Czech Republic Team at the World Juniors and posted a shutout helping his team pull off the upset against a strong Russian side. Although he did come back to earth in his next game when he allowed seven goals against the United States. It’s tough to measure goalies’ development at this tournament, especially those on teams that are usually overmatched. Regardless, Parik will return to the Czech Republic to see out the rest of this season unless the WHL returns to play. Julian Mongillo

December 2019 – Parik turned heads last season through his play at the international level for the underwhelming Czech Republic. The left-handed catching netminder is continuing his strong play with the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL after coming to North America this season. Parik is very athletic for a large goaltender and is more than capable of handling the puck. The 18-year-old puck stopper has lots of raw skill that will need refinement, with rebound control being a specific area in need of improvement. With Cal Petersen ahead of him on the depth chart, Parik will have lots of time to develop his skills while awaiting his opportunity. Julian Mongillo
