Fantasy Summary

Thompson will need to improve his offensive output to become fantasy relevant

June 2019 – Thompson did not get a qualifying offer from the Ducks which means he becomes an unrestricted free agent.  Jokke Nevalainen

June 2017 – Thompson’s first pro hockey season wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad. He played four games in the ECHL to get some playing time in as Anaheim has a rich pool of young defenseman. He is a solid stay at home defenseman, but really upped his game in the playoffs by scoring two goals and three points in ten games. Give him another year to marinate in the minors and he could potentially earn a 5/6 spot in the show as a hit/block shot defenseman. Lucas Main

November 2015 – Thompson, now in his senior year with UND, has yet to find that other gear. He’s shown flashes of modest offense, but not nearly enough at that level to warrant consideration in that role at the next level. Dobber

December 2012 – The US NTDP-18 defenseman is mobile and defends opponents efficiently. He is not overly physically though but he skates well. He is good at pushing the puck up ice although will likely not provide high-end offensive output. He will be off to North Dakota (WCHA) next season. He participated at the All-American Prospects Game in September and gave an average performance.
