Fantasy Summary

What Fowler lacks in mobility and fluidity, he makes up for in anticipation, tracking, and comfortable puck handling and passing, Boston College will be a good environment to optimize his development.

September 2024 – Jacob Fowler is gearing up for a big season with Boston College. He has worked on his form significantly this year, focusing on lowering his body fat percentage and adding agility to his intelligent game. Barring any injuries, Fowler will likely start all of BC’s games once again this season. Aaron Itovitch

February 2024 – Fowler’s trajectory following his selection in the third round of the 2023 draft has been incredible. In his first NCAA season, he has started all 24 games for Boston College, and has put up a stellar .924 save percentage. Analyst Ryan Whitney has recently compared him to a mix of Dominik Hasek, Carey Price, Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur — this may be a stretch, but the Canadiens certainly have an intriguing prospect on their hands. Aaron Itovitch

June 2023 – Fowler was selected 69th overall by the Canadiens. Pat Quinn

April 2023 – Jacob Fowler is the 2023 draft class’ “unbelievable stats but will it translate?” goaltender. He’s been a big part of a strong Youngstown team and trailed only Trey Augustine in USHL save percentage, which is especially impressive considering 19 and 20-year-olds typically dominate the league’s goaltending statistics. Fowler is a very cerebral goaltender who has had to stylistically adapt to his subpar skating and fluidity. His cross-crease movements can be quite choppy, but his high degree of anticipation and strength in tracking pucks compensate for this weakness at the USHL level. His skating and mobility will need to progress to unlock tangible NHL upside, but Boston College is a strong program for goaltending development according to Dobber’s goaltending scout Colin Hunter, which will be crucial in his progression. Fowler lacks Augustine’s consistency and control, as well as Hrabal’s raw tools, but he is a good dark horse candidate to be the best goaltender to come out of the 2023 class, though he remains behind the aforementioned two on our board. Sebastian High
