Fantasy Summary
A defense-minded defenseman.
Observations
December 2025 – Las season Kelley got a short look in Colorado’s AHL lineup, played two games, and picked up an assist. He was then assigned to Utah this season. Some may see that as a demotion but it is where he can actually grow. He needs ice time, pace, and puck touches, and the ECHL gives him all of that instead of getting lost in an AHL depth chart. Six games in, he is already scored and settled into a steady role, which is exactly what Chicago’s development group wants from him right now. Kelley’s path is likely a long one but if he progresses, he profiles as a depth defender who can kill plays and support a pairing rather than drive it. Right now, the priority is getting comfortable in the pro rhythm, and the ECHL minutes are helping him take those first steps. Puneet Sharma
June 2025 – Connor Kelley played in his fifth NCAA season in 2024-2025, scoring one goal and adding three assists and 24 penalty minutes in 37 games. Kelley will not be an offensive contributor should he find himself in the NHL. He saw two games with AHL’s Colorado Eagles at the end of his college season, and will likely finding himself there for the upcoming season. Chances are we won’t see him skating in the NHL for some time. Alex Wyatt
July 2021 – The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Kelley in the seventh round (204th overall) in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Mark Henry
