Borya Valis

September 2026 – Valis arrived in the AHL off a breakout final WHL campaign – 80
points in 66 games with Prince George – and posted 25 points across 60 AHL games in
the first pro year of his entry-level deal. A reasonable pace for a first-year winger,
though he was not a reliable playoff option and was not an every-night fixture at that
level. The offensive instincts that defined his junior breakout remain his most interesting
trait as a prospect, but his defensive game needs to develop before he can claim a

August 2025 – An undrafted 21-year-old forward signed a three-season contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, making his American Hockey League debut at the end of the 2024-25 season with the Toronto Marlies, who will have the opportunity to develop in the minors. Valis does not shy away from the physical aspects of the game; he needs to develop his defensive skills and demonstrate that his late offensive breakout in junior hockey can translate to the pro level. Valis does not need to be rostered in any league at the moment. Still, he is a prospect who could earn a second NHL contract after his entry-level contract expires and then earn a call-up to the NHL, steadily rise, and establish himself as a reliable bottom-six forward who can contribute on both power play and penalty kill at the NHL level. Mark Henry
