June 2025 – Selected third overall, Anton Frondell is now a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. Mark Henry
Final Rankings – Measuring 6-1 and 204lbs at the draft combine, Frondell is a tank on skates. He doesn’t so much outmuscle pro-level opponents, but rather eliminates them from the play entirely with his physicality. Frondell’s strength and crafty ability to protect the puck allows him the time to be patient and make effective decisions. It’s especially impressive how he finds soft areas to slide into and how he times his movements precisely in order to activate his lethal release. The shot itself explodes from his blade and is heavy enough to beat professional goaltenders from distance. Frondell handles the puck well, especially in tight areas around the net. He flashes moments of very dynamic handling, deceptive maneuvers, as well as intelligent play creation at times, but there could be more consistency in that area of his game. The compete and awareness allow him to disrupt play defensively. Frondell certainly has the tools to be at the very least a responsible middle six center, but if his combination of power and finesse continue to develop, he could evolve into a team’s leading goal scorer with a strong physical game to compliment his skill.—Ethan Lindley
January 2025 – It’d be an understatement to stay it’s been a frustrating draft season for Frondell. From all the injuries and missed time, to failing to earn meaningful minutes with Djurgardens’ big club, to not making Sweden’s 2025 World Junior team, Frondell’s season just hasn’t gone the way many had hoped. Still, there are very real NHL traits combined with an NHL frame, and still plenty of upside, even if that’s been scaled down since this time last year. Frondell can play a mature style game in both ends, boasts a strong shot, and plays with a physical edge. If he can turn his season around and show more of the player many scouts expected to see this season, he could boost his chances of becoming an NHL top 6 C. Jordan Harris
