Fantasy Summary
A smart defense-first type player and an excellent penalty killer with a big frame that sees the ice well. He makes good decisions with and without the pick and tends to be in the right place at the right time; there is potential for more of a two-way player within the right situation.

June 2025 – The Vancouver Canucks acquired Safonov from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for future considerations. On June 28, 2025, he was drafted by the Blackhawks in the sixth round (172nd overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft. The 6-4, 200-pound center, who made his debut in the Kontinental Hockey League during the 2019-20 season with Ak Bars Kazan, has been part of that organization since and has one year left on his KHL contract with them.
Safanov is expected to participate in the Vancouver Canucks’ development camp, which takes place at the University of British Columbia (UBC) from June 30, 2025, to July 3, 2025. Safanov is worth the gamble for the Canucks, especially considering the price of future considerations. If he moves to North America after his contract with the KHL expires, he will likely be a player seeking an immediate role with the Canucks. In a dynasty league, he is worth adding or, at the very least, putting on your watch list. Mark Henry
