Karl Annborn

September 2026 – Annborn made the jump from Swedish junior hockey to a much more challenging professional environment in 2025-26, spending time with Västerås in the HockeyAllsvenskan, HV71 in the SHL and HV71’s U20 team. He recorded five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 37 HockeyAllsvenskan games while also appearing in 17 SHL contests. The 2025 seventh-round pick remains a long-term defensive project, but playing meaningful minutes against older professionals at 18 years old was valuable experience. Annborn remains in Sweden for 2026-27 and is currently listed with HV71 as he continues his development. Jayd Serdy

July 2025 – Annborn saw action at four levels of Swedish hockey in 2024-2025, mostly with the J20 Nationell squad. His three goals and 21 assists in 39 games were the best offensive showing from a blueliner on the HV71 squad, and his points per game pace sat 17th in the league among defenders who skated in at least 10 games.

6-1 and 192 pounds at just 18, Annborn will certainly settle in to NHL size, and already has a decent defensive skillset to accentuate his budding offensive game. More a distributor than shooter, Annborn shows the makings of a two-way top-four defenseman at the NHL level if he hits his ceiling, though it is too early to pencil him in as such in either our fantasy rosters, or on the Kraken’s depth chart.

Look for him to develop in Europe for a few more seasons before moving to North America. Alex Wyatt
