2020 NHL Draft Ranking: European prospects (August 2019)

Welcome to DobberProspects’ first ever NHL Draft Ranking of European prospects. This ranking was put together before the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup to provide a list of the most interesting European prospects to follow in that tournament that starts on August 5th.
Players eligible for this ranking were those who are potential top 100 picks for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft and who played (mostly) in Europe during the 2018-2019 season. Because of that second part, some prospects like Ruben Rafkin were excluded even though they otherwise would qualify. Some of the prospects on this ranking will move to play in North America this season, so they will be excluded from this ranking when that happens.
As the Head of European Scouting at DobberProspects, it is my honor and privilege to put together this ranking. But this is not just my personal ranking as I received contributions from the following people:
- Lassi Alanen (@lassialanen)
- Czech Prospects (@CZprospects)
- Russian Prospects (@RUSProspects)
- Sergei Kuzin (@S__Kuzin)
In our next edition, which will be released later this year, we will provide quick scouting reports of the ranked players but unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to do that for the preliminary ranking. But we did manage to put together projected draft range for all of them.
Without further ado, here is DobberProspects’ preliminary ranking of European prospects for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
