Prospect Ramblings: Entry-level slide candidates – DPR’s STAY OR NAY game continued…(Oct 27)
Paul Zwambag
2016-10-27
On our latest two episodes of the DobberPropects Radio podcast, we played a game of “Stay or Nay”, continuing the game into my ramblings today since there was some more interest with other ‘entry-level slide candidate’ guys. The game is basically deciding whether the given player will 'Stay' with the team or 'Nay", he will be sent back to junior or the AHL. The full list of guys can be found at CapFriendly.com.
PATRIK LAINE – STAY – do I have to give a reason, go watch a Jets game, this kid is electric. Hat-trick with a game-tying and overtime game winning goal against (media created – arch nemesis) Auston Matthews in their first meet up.

ANTHONY BEAUVELLIER – NAY – I don’t think he is going to stay with the club, he had a pretty decent preseason (1G-1A-2P in 6GP), but I can’t see the Islanders keeping him around the entire year. He is currently playing on the third line, receiving just over nine minutes of ice time per game.

JESSE PULJUJARVI – STAY – I think Puljujarvi will stick around in the NHL. Will he be on McDavid’s wing this year? I don’t think it will happen until next year or the year after. Long-term Puljujarvi will be a high end winger, right now he will play on a line with Leon Draisaitl and Patrick Maroon. Puljujarvi is receiving some significant powerplay time as well.

SEBASTIAN AHO – STAY, Aho has been playing in the top-six all year, he has been given significant powerplay time. He is showing he belongs in the NHL, all five of Aho’s assists are first assists, which means he’s the guy setting up the scorer. Aho will be a 40-45pt guy this year.

IVAN PROVOROV – STAY, the rookie attention has been all on Zach Werenski so far this year, Provorov is quietly putting up decent numbers. He has been spending most of his ice time playing with Mark Streit or Brandon Manning. He has getting powerplay ice time from the second unit, still receiving almost two minutes a game. Provorov is sticking around for the year.
