Observations:

June 2016 – The Avalanche have decided not to sign their 2014 fourth-round pick to an entry-level contract. He is likely not talented enough to earn an AHL spot with any organization next season, but his hockey IQ and hard-working nature could lead him to Europe, the ECHL, or similar. Hayden Soboleski

May 2016 – Magyar has rightfully fallen off the fantasy radar after another disappointing season in Kitchener, where he managed only 20 points in 49 games played. He will be over-age next OHL season, and there's a chance the team decides to bring back other 20-year-olds rather than use a spot on him. He did however win the team's humanitarian award for the second straight year, and his hockey sense is still his highest regarded asset; these sorts of qualities make him a player teams want around even if development isn't progressing as fast as hoped. Hayden Soboleski

November 2015 – Magyar suffered a broken ankle very early in the 2015-16 season, but has now returned to the Kitchener Rangers. He has totalled two points in five games so far, and his underwhelming play has him bouncing around the second to fourth lines. This is not the start Magyar and the Avs hoped for, as he is not contributing offensively and his defensive responsibility means little if not used against top players. Hayden Soboleski

May 2015 – Magyar had a disappointing sophomore season with the Kitchener Rangers from a fantasy perspective, scoring only 16 goals and 16 assists in 65 games. He played only minimally on the powerplay (four goals), did not take penalties (18 PIM on the year), and finished the season at minus-7. His two-way play is still considered very strong despite his lack of offensive improvement. Hayden Soboleski

June 2014 – The Colorado Avalanche selected Nick Magyar 94th overall at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Brendan Ross

June 2014 –Nick Magyar opted to join the Kitchener Rangers for his draft year and the move paid off as the young forward developed confidence and his game trended upwards as a result. He relies on his strong hockey sense to gain positioning in favourable scoring spots. He shows promising levels of physicality and his overall understanding of both the defensive and offensive game makes him a raw prospect worth investing in. Magyar scored 20 goals and 46 points in 66 games during his rookie season. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook: D

Sizeable forward with the hockey sense to earn a roster spot somewhere, but dont expect fantasy relevance at the pro-level any time soon.
