March 2015 – Wannstrom showed a lot of promise in the Swedish junior leagues, which earned him a second round selection in 2010. The Blues believed they found a skilled point producer. During his time in the AHL he simply hasn’t been what they hoped. Still, he has shown to be a good skater and has developed a well rounded game that could find him a checking line role at the NHL level. The winger signed a one-year, two-way deal last summer with the Blues, so they do have interest keeping him around. He has a lot of skill, and it may click one day, but it doesn’t look like he’ll translate to a point producer that was once displayed in Sweden junior league. Matt Kowalski
Fantasy Outlook: C-
Wannstrom doesn’t carry a lot of fantasy value unless he rediscovers his game, but he is skilled, and rather young, so anything is possible.
