Observations:

March 2014 – Lehner had a huge start the campaign, but has gone ice cold as the year on the calendar changed. Despite the collapse of his play and consequently his stats, the organization feels he is in the NHL to stay and has no more learning to do in minor pro. His play will recover and we expect him to be one of the top goaltending chips to be holding for the near and long term future based on his talent level, not the team in front of him. Jason Banks

December 2013 – At the beginning of the season it would have been optimistic of Robin Lehner to think he’d play more than 25 games this year. But with Craig Anderson struggling early on, and the team really struggling as a whole, Lehner has been given an opportunity to play half of the teams games of late.  Not only are the Sens alternating goalies from game-to-game, but Lehner has been much stronger than Anderson in his games.  Lehner’s save percentage (.930%) completely outshines Anderson (.897%), and the Swede, at this point in the season, simply gives the Sens a better chance to win.  There is no question that Lehner is the goalie of the future in Ottawa, the only question is how long they will wait until they make him their bonafied number one goalie. If the Sens’ season continues to go South, fantasy owners probably won’t have to wait too much longer for Lehner to become a valuable fantasy goalie. Nathan Martin

April 2013 – With the Senators moving Ben Bishop, Lehner now has an NHL job for good. His AHL/NHL combined SV% this season is over .936. With Craig Anderson’s contract lasting two more years the only question is: when he will take over the crease? Jason Banks

January 2013 – Robin Lehner has been named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week (ending January 27th) after posting a 2-0-0 record with a 0.92 GAA and .975 save percentage. Lehner is ready for NHL primetime and remains the top goaltending prospect available in fantasy hockey. Brendan Ross

January 2013 – Ottawa at first decided they wanted Lehner on the roster after training camp, but since have decided to send him down as they showcase Ben Bishop as the latter would require waivers. Lehner remains one of the top prospects on goalie lists, and is currently representing Binghamton at the AHL All-Star game. He is currently sporting a .948 SV% on the season with a 1.80 GAA. He has been extremely sharp as of late going 8-1 in his last 9 games with a 1.64 GAA and .955 SV%. He is pushing hard and is a must own in keeper leagues. Jason Banks

October 2012 – Ottawa has a very bright future in the crease with this large Swedish tender. Lehner has been strong and reliable at every level he has played, a trend that shows no signs of slowing down. Lehner is goalie that leaves everything he has on the ice, technically sound, and very quick. Sen’s management has done the right thing by letting him develop fully, yet also giving him appropriate opportunities at growth. Lehner was expected to play this full campaign in Binghamton pre-lockout to play legitimate starter minutes. Joining him in the tandem is his top competition within the organization, Ben Bishop. Lehner is still expected to carry the load as Bishop has proven all he need to at the AHL level, this still gives Ottawa a chance to allow their 2 top young goalies play heads up against each other. To start this season, Lehner has been lights out with a sparkling .938 save percentage in six appearances. Jason Banks

Fantasy Outlook: A+

Lehner is pushing Craig Anderson for the No.1 job and will continue to be a threat until he wins the job by 2015.
