The London Knights defeated the Niagara Ice Dogs 2-1 in game five to win the OHL Championship and advance to the Memorial Cup. Nashville prospect Austin Watson was named the MVP of the playoffs, finishing with 17 points in 19 games. Undrafted goalie Michael Houser was outstanding in the playoffs as well, with a 2.25 goals against and .928 save percentage…
The Calgary Flames signed Czech prospect Roman Cervenka to a one-year contract, and he is expected to be at the Flames’ training camp in September. The 26-year old played in the KHL this season, with 39 points in 54 games for Avengard Omsk, after scoring 61 points in 51 games the year before. Cervenka has offensive ability, and has been a consistent scorer throughout his career. The Flames are hoping Cervenka can fill the second-line center spot that they have been trying to fill the last couple of seasons.
