Observations:
May 2013- Smith followed up his excellent regular season with a strong performance in the ECHL playoffs. Smith racked up 12 points in 17 games before the Steelheads exited in the third round. – Rex Doty
March 2013 – Smith has dominated the ECHL, but every time he gets an AHL shot he fails to translate the offense…Needs to take more of an advantage of what chances he gets, otherwise may develop a reputation as ‘not clutch’…Must add strength, is getting forced off the puck too often, when facing AHL foes…Still learning, don’t rule him out yet. – Dobber
February, 2012 – A smallish, two-way forward, Smith exploded offensively in his senior season at Colgate. Following a mediocre junior year with 31 points, Smith recorded 36 goals and 57 points this season and was recognized as the ECAC Player of the Year and Hobey Baker finalist. He needs to add strength and bulk. – Rich Dillon
While a career as a checker/penalty killer is within his reach, Smith is unlikely to ever have a fantasy impact. At best, a supplementary scorer/tweener on the second/third line.
