Observations:

May 2014 – After being acquired by the Florida Panthers, Olsen has shown a lot of promise since his time spent with the Rockford Icedogs. In 44 games in the NHL with the Panthers, he was able to put up three goals and nine assists. Olsen showed his potential with his time with San Antonio notching 10 points in 21 games over the Olympic break. Olsen still has a lot to prove at the NHL level and will have the opportunity in Florida, a team reliant on their prospects. Jake Patterson

December 2013 – Olsen has completely turned his game around since getting a new opportunity with the Panthers. He has five points in seven games since the trade and is a plus-2. Florida has gone 3-4-0 since acquiring him. Nathan Kanter

November 2013 – Defenseman Dylan Olsen, along with Jimmy Hayes, has been traded to the Florida Panthers for forward Kris Versteeg. Brendan Ross

September 2013- Olsen has been sent back to Rockford for the coming season. So far his career numbers haven’t been anything to write home about. Rex Doty

June 2013- Olsen’s third season seen him continue to take small steps forward in his development, setting personal highs in games {source}

{/source}played (50) and points (11). The steps have been small incremental ones but at 22 years of age, the door is still very much open for him to forge a future in the NHL with the Blackhawks. A positive sign, Olsen was called up following the end of the Icehog’s season to get a taste of the Stanley Cup Playoff atmosphere, though he spent that time merely as an observer. The competition will be strong for spots on the Chicago blue line in the coming years so he will have to continue showing progress to earn his spot. Rex Doty

February 2012 – Olsen turned pro after just one full season at Minnesota-Duluth, but has made good strides in Rockford and is in the Blackhawks’ future plans. He is very mobile for his size, and has the offensive skills to get NHL power-play time in the future.

Fantasy Outlook: B-

Olsen is an almost certain future NHL’er, but his ultimate role is yet to be defined. His potential is that of a top four d-man who sees power-play time.

Olsen’s shot from the point (first goal in this highlight) stopped, Ryan O’Reilly scores on the rebound.
