Observations:
June, 2012 – The Chicago Blackhawks decided not to sign Rensfeldt to an entry level contract before the June 1st deadline. As a result, Rensfeldt will re-enter the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. – Brendan Ross –
January, 2012 – The big bodied Swede, Ludvig Rensfeldt, has a combination of admirable skills including a quick wrist shot and exceptional passing abilities. Rensfeldt is a difficult player to knock off the puck and is strong along the boards excelling in the puck protection game. Rensfeldt has struggled with his consistency in his rookie OHL season playing for Sarnia but has shown a good work ethic despite the ebb and flow offensive production. Rensfeldt could benefit from engaging himself physically more often to better utilize his large frame to create space. Rensfeldt is coming off a strong 2012 U-20 World Junior Championship where he helped Sweden win its first gold medal in over thirty years and finished tied for third in team scoring with six points.
Fantasy Outlook: C-
Rensfeldt projects to become a secondary scorer (20G, 60P upside) at the NHL level and fantasy relevant in deeper leagues in the next 3-4 years.
